This all-new resort located in the Haa Alifu Atoll (northern-most of the Maldives’ atolls), and is reached by a 45 minute seaplane flight, followed by a 45 minute speed boat ride.

ACCOMMODATION
68 luxurious air-conditioned villas each have a private pool, butler service, king-size beds (with 100% cotton Frette linen), ceiling fan, in-room safe, customised in-room bar, espresso (coffee) machine, 81cm LCD satellite TV, CD, DVD, HiFi stereo with surround sound, writing desk, iPod and note book hook-ups, multi-line telephone, high speed internet and e-mail connection, a selection of books and magazines and a “pillow” menu. Open-air en-suite bathrooms have over-sized 100% cotton Frette bath towels, lighted make-up and shaving mirror and a hair dryer. There’s also an outside dining area.

Beach Villas are 152sqm in area; Beach Suites are 225sqm and incorporate a Jacuzzi bath tub; Water Villas are 145sqm and have glass panelled floors; the Grand Water Pavilion is 418sqm (with 2 bed rooms) and includes a sauna and steam room; and the Grand Beach Pavilion is 693sqm (with 2 bedrooms) and incorporates a sauna and steam room. All have private swimming pools and outdoor dining facilities.

THE CONCEPT
This is a resort which will offer new standards in barefoot luxury, where you’ll be able to kick off your shoes, totally relax and luxuriate in splendid isolation.

JUNGLE SPA
10 treatment rooms scattered amongst lush tropical vegetation to create “a back to nature experience.” Trained therapists and medical professionals pamper guests with Thai, Ayurvedic and Swedish treatments or, for a unique experience, you can undertake the Chocolate Indulgence package (with chocolate butter massage and chocolate almond scrub, finishing off with a floral bath, a cup of hot chocolate and a white chocolate moisturiser. A sauna and steam room are also available.

RESTAURANTS & BARS
International chefs and staff will prepare and serve gourmet meals in the main restaurant, on the beach or under a beach-front pavilion, or in the Asian specialty restaurant. Fresh-caught local seafood and Maldivian treats are on offer, together with culinary treats from around the world.

The Four Corners - the main restaurant, will provide buffet-style meals catering to a wide range of tastes and including meats, vegetables/salads and fruit.

Medium Rare - an international grill which will serve a selection of barbequed meats, fish, seafood and vegetables, prepared in flamboyant style in full view of guests.

Saffron – an Asian specialty restaurant which will serve fusion cuisine from across the Far East.

3 bars provide beverages and a selection of snacks and the wine cellar will be attended by a world class sommelier.

As an alternative, guests can enjoy a specially prepared meal in the comfort of their Villa.

For minimum stays of 4 nights: Fruit basket on arrival, celebratory turndown service on 1st or 2nd evenings and a romantic 3-course dinner during stay. Guests must show proof of recent wedding at time of check-in.

Not much larger on the map than a few ink splashes by a busy cartographer, the Maldive Islands stretch from the south western tip of India all the way to the Equator. One of the most attenuated countries in the world, the 1,196 islands, in 26 distinct coral atolls, are spread over a total area of 90,000 square kilometres (about 36,000 square miles) of the Indian Ocean, yet less than 0.5 percent of this is land. Some 200 of the islands are inhabited.

Until the arrival of tourism, fishing was the main occupation in this nation of seafarers, and the relaxed pace of life seems to have carried over into the twentieth century. The graceful sailing dhonis (small craft) of old may have given way to motorised versions, but fishing with pole and line is still a common site throughout the islands.
