This tour is escorted from Perth. Passengers from other cities will either meet the group in transit in Singapore airport or on day one of the Tour. Please contact us for more information.

  • Please advise your consultant if you are travelling on a non Australian passport. You must ensure you have at least two blank pages available on your passport. If your passport is due to expire within six months of your return date you must obtain a new passport.

  • All documentation must be spelled correctly. Please ensure that the spelling of the first name(s) and surname(s) on all documentation is correct as per the passport you will be travelling on. Once the tickets have been issued name change fees of up to 100% apply.

  • Certain countries require you to obtain a visa prior to your arrival. Please ensure you and your travelling companions obtain the most up to date information from the embassy, or consulate, for the countries you intend to visit. HolidayPlanet will not be held liable should you be denied entry, or boarding, for not having the correct travel documents.   • This tour requires a moderate level of fitness.

Health & Fitness:
We require clients to have a good level of health and fitness. Tours include up to 1 Kilometre walks over steps and uneven ground. Please ensure this holiday is suitable for your level of fitness as walking and getting on/off transport is required in many areas and good mobility is needed. We strongly recommend a visit to your doctor and dentist before your trip. Destinations in these regions do not have facilities to accommodate wheelchairs or physically challenged clients.

Tipping and Gratuities:
Tipping and gratuities have not been included on this tour and in most cases are expected by the ground operators. Your tour host will be able to provide information on how much each tour guide may expect to receive but all contributions are at your discretion. Compulsory tipping onboard the Yangtze River Cruise will be added to your ship board account ans is required to be paid locally – RMB150 per traveller. .HolidayPlanet Tour Hosts do not receive any tips or gratuities from travellers.

Minimum Tour Numbers:
The tour arrangements have been made on the basis of a minimum number of passengers travelling. In the event that less than the required number of passengers have confirmed their booking 60 days from the date of departure, Holiday Planet reserves the right to cancel the tour, giving a full refund of monies paid, or offer arrangements to proceed with the tour at a modified fare.

Travel Insurance:
Adequate travel insurance is highly recommended to cover holiday members for the consequences of unforeseen events during the cruise and for cancellation fees which could result from events such as illness, accidents etc. It is always recommended that travel insurance be arranged at time of paying deposits.

Australian and New Zealand Passport holders require a Visa to be obtained prior to departing for China. Failure to obtain a valid travel Visa may cause a traveller to be denied boarding.

    Meet your HolidayPlanet Tour Host at Perth International Airport, as well as your fellow group travellers and check in for your Singapore Airlines flights to Beijing with a short transit in Singapore. After arrival at the award winning Beijing Capital international airport, you will be met by your local guide to assist your transfer your awaiting 4-star hotel in the heart of the city and an opportunity to rest and prepare for the remainder of the day.

    After breakfast at your hotel, visit the Badaling section of the Great Wall. Enjoy this testament to Chinese engineering and ingenuity, a monument to human endeavor set against a backdrop of stunning scenery. (excl. cable car) Lunch will be hosted in a local Chinese restaurant before visiting Sacred Way. An historical road flanked with statues that leads to the Ming Tombs. This evening, dine on an iconic Beijing dish refined to perfection over the centuries and fit for an emperor’s table, Peking duck.

    After breakfast at your hotel, visit the site that witnessed the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Tian’an Men Square is of one the world’s most impressive public plazas and stands at the center of Beijing and visit the Forbidden City. Explore the halls and gardens of the largest ancient palatial structure in the world, the best preserved imperial palace in China and a site of great historical importance. (excl. exhibition) Enjoy lunch at a local Chinese restaurant before a visit to the Temple of Heaven. Framed amongst the princely imperial styles of the Ming and Qing Dynasties the site is a masterpiece of imperial style and architecture. Dinner is at your own leisure, perhaps find a near by restaurant with new friends or take on some recommendations from the local tour guide.

    After breakfast at your hotel, visit the Summer Palace. The former site of retreat for the imperial family, the Summer Palace provides a range of striking views and the opportunity to enjoy Kunming Lake. Its buildings and courtyards are beautifully decorated and charged with historical content. (excl. boat, theatre and Longevity Hill) Lunch will be at a local Chinese restaurant before transferring to the train station; where you will take the Bullet train (2rd class seat) to the ancient capital of Xi’an.  On arrival a transfer will be waiting to take you to the hotel.

    After breakfast at your hotel, visit the Terracotta Warrior Museum. The Terracotta Warriors are praised as ‘the eighth wonder of the world’ and provide a fascinating insight into the ancient world. The silent army and its place in Chinese culture represent a wonderful highlight of any tour. After lunch at a local restaurant visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. The pagoda is a well-preserved ancient building and one of the oldest surviving structures of its kind in China. (excl. climb the tower) This evening we will enjoy a Tang Dynasty Show with dinner in the Grand Theater.

    After breakfast at your hotel, transfer to the Xi’an airport for your flight to Chongqing. Upon arrival at Chongqing, meet your English speaking local guide and have lunch or dinner at a local restaurant (depends on flight time). Visit Ciqikou, a historic Song dynasty town with traditional style buildings and a distinct local cuisine, before heading to Erling Park. Also called Goose Neck Park the area lies beneath Erling Mountain to the west of Chongqing City and offers grand views of the Yangtze River. in the afternoon we will board your awaiting river vessel and set off upon your leisurely river cruise.

    Continue your cruise on the mighty Yangtze River with a stop at either Ghost City Fengdu, or the Shibaozhai Pagoda. Ghost City Fengdu is an area of local legend, striking scenic beauty and great number of ghost focused temples. The Shibaozhai Pagoda is a Qing dynasty wooden masterpiece built on a huge rocky outcrop and surrounded by gorgeous scenery.

    The evening provides an opportunity to attend an information meeting on board the cruise vessel with details and facts about the river and its famous locations.

  8. 22 October 2017

    Pass through Qutang Gorge, the first of the famous three gorges. Continue on to Wu Gorge, the last of the three gorges, bordered by cultivated fields that overhang at almost impossible angles. Shore excursion to Shennong Stream, providing a chance to stretch your legs on land and explore. Back on board we head towards the Western Part of Xiling Gorge, a famous thoroughfare for shipping throughout the centuries, before passing the ship locks and heading to the majestic 3 Gorges Dam, China’s largest engineering operation since the Great Wall.

    Breakfast on board before a shore excursion and chance to encounter the 3 Gorges Dam.  Transfer to Yichang Train Station from the 3 Gorges Dam where lunch will either be at local restaurant or packed lunch prepared for you. After transferring to the high speed train (2nd class seat) to Shanghai a transfer will  take you to your awaiting hotel. Dinner will be at your leisure.

    Breakfast at your hotel to prepare you for a full day tour of Shanghai. Your first stop is the sublime Yu Garden, located in the old city center. The gardens and their surroundings are a wonderful example of classical design. Constructed 400 years ago in the Ming period, the colossal city of Shanghai has sprung up around this older relative but left it to grow old peacefully, providing a fascinating window into the past. Visit the Jade Buddha Temple. Founded in 1882, the temple is celebrated for its two magnificent white jade Burmese Buddha statues. Next take a stroll to Nanjing Lu, a well-known shopping boulevard with all of the immense energy, bright lights and spectacle of Shanghai condensed into one location. After lunch at a local restaurant visit the French Concession for a glimpse into Shanghai’s colonial past before returning to the hotel.

    After breakfast at your hotel you will have the morning to spend at your leisure. Next embark on a half day city tour of Shanghai complete with;
    A visit to Jinmao Tower: a wonder of modern architecture and a chance to look out over the city below.
    The Bund: With an iconic skyline famous throughout the world, the Pudong area proudly boasts its striking modernist architecture, while at the same time contrasting with the ornate colonial buildings of yesteryear facing it from across the river along the Bund.
    Transfer to ERA Theatre for the spectacle and sights of the city’s most famous acrobatic show (tourist B class tickets).
