Day by Day Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Fly from Australia to Beijing. Some flights may be overnight depending on flight availability and your departure airport, please ask us for more details. Upon arrival in Beijing, the capital city of China, you will be warmly greeted at the airport by your tour guide and transferred to your hotel.

  2. Day 2

    Beijing has served as the capital of ve dynasties over a period of 800years. Today, visit Tiananmen Square, the second largest public squarein the world, and the Forbidden City, the Chinese imperial palace fromthe Ming to Qing dynasty. Continue on to the Temple of Heaven, one ofthe best examples of Ming Dynasty architecture and also an ornatesanctuary where Chinese emperors o ered sacri ces to heaven andprayed for good harvest. Your welcome banquet includes the localdelicacy, Peking Roast Duck.

  3. Day 3

    Today’s highlight is an excursion to the majestic Great Wall at JuyongPass, the most famous image of China, and a chance to climb a portion ofthis 3,700-mile marvel. Visit one of the largest Jade Exhibitions in Asiaen-route. After lunch, see skilled artisans at work at a Cloisonné Factory,and visit the Changling Exhibition Hall of the Ming Tombs, wherethirteen of the sixteen Ming dynasty emperors are buried. Tonight, youcan choose to attend an optional large scale dramatic musical, “TheGolden Mask Dynasty” (optional at your own expense).

  4. Day 4

    Tour the exquisite Summer Palace, the largest preserved ancientimperial garden in China, and a former summer resort for Emperors. Then,visit a Chinese Herbal Institute to learn about traditional Chinese medicine,which has existed for thousands of years. This afternoon, join a “HutongLife Tour” (optional at your own expense), a special journey whichexplores Beijing’s ancient alleyways or “hutongs” by pedicab followed by astroll in Wangfujing, one of the Chinese capital’s most famous shoppingstreets. After dinner, cap o the day by attending a superb and thrillingChinese Kung-Fu Show (optional at your own expense).

  5. Day 5

    Fly to Xi’an, the rst Chinese city to open its doors to the world duringthe Tang dynasty, and the capital for eleven dynasties over a period ofmore than 2,000 years. Today’s highlight is a visit to the TerracottaWarriors & Horses Museum, one of the most signi cant archaeologicalexcavations of the 20th Century, to see the life-sized defending army ofthe rst emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang. Later, visit a Ceramics ArtFactory, followed by a special Dumpling Banquet, to be enjoyed with aperformance of music and dance from the Tang Dynasty (618-907 A.D.).

  6. Day 6

    Visit the fascinating Shaanxi Provincial Museum. Enjoy lunch, featuringa special noodle making demonstration before a visit to the Ancient CityWall, the most complete ancient city wall surviving in China. Later, visitthe Big Wild Goose Pagoda, the symbol of the city.

  7. Day 7

    Fly to Shanghai – the modern metropolis and commercial centre ofChina. This morning we visit a Silk Spinning Mill and learn how silk iscreated from mulberry-munching silkworms to produce the nestthread and cloth. Then we walk along the famous Bund, a mile-longstretch along the Huangpu River. Lined by the colonial architectures ofEuropean design, this area is the best place to capture the westernin uences of the old days. Continue to the Old Town which is a perfectcombination of gardens, temples, old architecture, civil culture, businesssouvenirs and food. In the evening, you may join an optional “HuangpuRiver Night Cruise” (optional at your own expense).

  8. Day 8

    This morning visit Shanghai Museum to see ancient Chinese art,furniture and jade. Then we explore the Xintiandi Area, an a uent andfashionable pedestrian street composed of unique Shikumen (stonegate) and modern architecture style. Our farewell dinner this eveningwill be a banquet of delicious Shanghai cuisine. You can cap of thecelebrations by attending a thrilling optional Chinese acrobatic show -“ERA: The Intersection of Time” (optional at your own expense).
